Make a Flower Shadowbox

Diy, Crafts, Scrapbooking, How to, Florigami, Quick Quotes, TutorialGabriela SimsComment

Hi everyone, Gabriela here today with a tutorial on how to make a piece of shadow box art.  I used the Whistlin' Dixie collection again because I'm in love with it right now.  You will need a shadow box and you will need to cut out rosettes and flowers from the paper you choose.  I used my Cricut for this because it saved time.  I cut the stems and the leaves by hand.

Check out the video below.

Hi everyone, Gabriela here today with a layout using Whistlin' Dixie papers. This layout is for any special moment you enjoyed and would like to remember. I chose a photo from my first year of gardening because I grew sunflowers that were over 6 feet tall. I added some glitter and wood cutouts, check out the video below to follow along.

I hope the video was easy to follow and you have time to scrap a memory you love.

Mother's Day Mini Album

Gabriela SimsComment

Hi everyone, Gabriela here today and in the spirit of Mother's Day, I decided to make a mini album for moms. This can be filled with pictures of children, grandchildren, or anyone special to her.  The cover uses a flower from the March Club Q kit and some of the embellishments are from that kit as well.

There is room for four photos and some journaling, the album size is 5" x 7" with lightweight chip board used to reinforce the front and back covers.  I punched the holes with my Crop-a-Dile Big Bite and the put binder hooks through them.  This came together in about an hour and I mixed several paper collections with no problem and I even chalked some of the edges.  Thanks for stopping by!

Gab about your Stash #1

Tools, Color, Cards, Supplies, Diy, Graphic, Crafts, Watercolor, Paper crafting, StampsGabriela SimsComment

So I LOVE crafting supplies as evidenced in the craft storage post, but I'm trying to get better about using what I buy, so starting in the next few weeks, I am going to make a habit of using supplies I already have and scraps of projects from the week. I will make posts here and on my YouTube channel so that people can keep up. I will do a 10 minute Monday, a technique card, a product review, and then a Saturday Scrapternoon where I use up that week's scraps! In really excited about that and I hope it will keep me on task to create more and work through a massive stash of supplies and tools.  I have lots of tools I have never reviewed, but that I use often, so it'll be nice to share long term pros and cons.  In the meantime, here are this week's cards.

I recently found out someone I know was battling a serious illness and they beat it. I immediately wanted to make them an extra special card, here it is! Start by cutting a 4 x 5.25 inch piece of card stock

4 x 5.25

and another at 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

4.25 x 5.5

4.25 x 5.5

Then cut a shape from the smaller block and a circle smaller than the shape you chose out of the larger block.

Big shape small block, larger block smaller circle.

Then mark the front of your notecard base and cut out the same circle.

Mark the card.

Mark the card.

Also mark the inside of the card to line up with the opening.

Cut a piece of acetate the same size as the 4 x 5.25 block and attach it.

Cut a piece of craft foam to 4 x 5.25 and cut a bigger circle out of it.

I decided to stamp a small flower on the front and added some rain stones.

Next, pick out what you want to put inside of your shaker and attach the layers.

Now attach the front to the card base and line up the circle cut outs.

Now you can stamp your sentiment where it will be visible through the front.

You'll see the "hope" through the front.
