Sewing is My Super Power

Hi everyone, I'm here today with a brief tutorial on how to make a thank you plaque. One of my super talented co-workers made me two mug rugs a few weeks ago (seen below) and I wanted to make something perfect for her.

Total surprise and totally amazing!

I use these everyday and I wanted something she could also keep/use everyday, so I decided to make a plaque for her sewing room! For this you will need:

Cardstock

Cutting Machine

Wood Panel

Glue

Marker

I started with this wood panel I got at Hobby Lobby.

Then I cut a piece of card stock down to 9.5" x 7" and glued that to the base.

Then I cut out a quilting square and thread from my Cricut subscription.  Quick note, I don't own many Cricut cartridges, I just subscribe to the monthly service and on the occasion that I want something that isn't included, I buy that individual item, it works out really well for me.

Once I assembled everything, I glued it all down to the plaque.  I also used a Copic Multiliner to add some "stitches" to the quilt square and used a piece of patterned paper to mimic fabric. I also covered the needle with a little Wink of Stella in Silver.

Ready to go!

This took about an hour from start to finish and my coworker loved it!!! I did not add hardware to the back because I wanted her to be able to either hang it or set it on a shelf. Try wowing someone you know with one of these, I'm thinking of making one for myself that says "Knitting is my super power." Happy crafting, feel free to ask questions or comment below!
